The final vestiges of evening light illuminate the slopes of Elidir Fawr and the dam wall below Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir. This is one of the lesser visited areas of Snowdonia due to its association with both the old Welsh slate mining industry and more recent "Electric Mountain" hydro-electrical power station project. The 'round of Elidir Fawr' though, remains one of the most wonderful hiking routes in the park, yielding magnificent and often unsurpassed views of both the Glyderau and Carneddau mountain ranges.
