THE OLDEST INDUSTRY

The Gambia is one of the poorest countries in all of Africa and its locals rely on traditional methods of industry to survive.

Here we see a local fishing boat drawn up on the wide sandy beach near Serrekunda. The fishermen take pride in their craft, lovingly painting the vessels in both bright colours and local slogans.

This is fortunate indeed for the travel photographer, as the bright colours provide a wonderful centrepiece for a midday image.

Here complementary colours have been used, and a polariser helps to further saturate the scene.
