Atmospheric
This section of the GALLERY is devoted to that so easily overused term "Atmospheric Images"
And indeed it is no accident, that the images portrayed in this collection were all taken at the beginning or end of the day or "The Golden Hour" as it is known to most photographers.
For it is both the first and the final hour of daylight that produces the most attractive light and the finest of conditions to fully appreciate all that nature has created.

A VIEW TO DIE FOR
The Peak District National Park contains some of the most spectacular scenery in England.
The ruined 11th century keep of Peveril Castle has a commanding view over much of it, including Mam Tor seen in the distance.
Many have died trying to occupy the fortress. This image portrays a more tranquil appearance, a far cry from its turbulent history.
The use of a heavily graduated ND filter has helped to retain detail in the shadowy slopes below the castle. The cloud above the distant ridgeline is also an important factor, generating interest in an otherwise bland sky.
