National Parks
The National Parks of Great Britain contain some of the most outstanding features of our countryside. The highest mountain, deepest lake, sweeping hillsides and rugged coastlines... they are quite simply the UK's "breathing spaces."
Most of the UK population live within 2 hours drive of at least one National Park and they are a mecca for walkers, mountain bikers and of course... landscape photographers!
The images in this section of the Gallery concentrate mainly upon those National Parks in the north of England and Wales... namely:

FIRE AND ICE
Castlerigg Stone Circle on the outskirts of Keswick, is perhaps the most famous and well visited attraction in the whole of the Lake District National Park.
How can one find a truly original image of such a classic and iconic location?
The answer lies in 'perseverance!'
I have lost count of the number of times that I have visited this location... but finally on this occasion I finally achieved my 'Holy Grail' here.
A very hard frost had occurred overnight turning the ground white with rime. Then as the sun rose, the thin layer of Stratocumulus cloud that was sitting over Blencathra exploded into a fiery sea of colour.
Fire and Ice - a perfect combination.
