\r\nTowering over the Cheshire countryside to a height of 1125 feet is the distinctive landmark of Bosley Cloud.

\r\n'The Cloud<\/i><\/b>' or 'Cloudside<\/i><\/b>' as it is also known, is very popular with walkers, ornathologists and photographers as it offers extensive views over the whole of Cheshire.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nI had envisaged this shot for a while and kept a close eye on the weather for several weeks, waiting for the right forecast.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nConditions on the morning were perfect and here we see the 'trig point' caught by the first rays of light whilst in the valley beyond, radiation fog covers the scene like a large blanket.

\r\nThe Giant's Causeway is situated in County Antrim on the northeast coast of Northern Ireland and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

\r\nThis is truly a special place and a landscape photographers dream.
\r\nIt simply oozes atmosphere from the moment you lay eyes upon its spectacular form.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nOf course the main problem in capturing images here, is to come up with someting a little different from multitude of enthusiasts that have been before.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nOn the evening of the shoot, heavy storm clouds had been sweeping continually inland off the Irish Sea, bringing short but intense bursts of heavy showers.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nOnly the insane... and a desperately keen photographer would be foolish enough to stand against the onslaught.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nThen it happened! - the watching and waiting finally paid off as a gap began to appear in the storm clouds out at sea and within minutes a shaft of glorious low raking sunlight illuminated the hexagonal basalt columns before me.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nThe lighting lasted for no more than a minute, allowing me to capture both horizontal and vertical compositions before disappearing never to return.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nFor me it was an awe inspiring experience... and one that will remain with me always.
\r\n

\r\nConditions like these do not last long. For the photographer it is a case of watching and waiting.

\r\nThe ruined 11th century keep of Peveril Castle has a commanding view over much of it, including Mam Tor seen in the distance.

\r\nMany have died trying to occupy the fortress. This image portrays a more tranquil appearance, a far cry from its turbulent history.

\r\nThe use of a heavily graduated ND filter has helped to retain detail in the shadowy slopes below the castle. The cloud above the distant ridgeline is also an important factor, generating interest in an otherwise bland sky.

\r\nWhen conditions are right, this demonstration of nature’s beauty is duplicated countless times throughout our remarkable country, as the sun begins its slow but certain climb towards a distant horizon.
