However, perfect reflections are one occasion where it pays to break with tradition.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nOnce again a long exposure in the order of 60 seconds has been utilised. 																																																																						photos[5439367] = clik.newPhoto({"item_price":"","section_code":"gallery","caption":"","location":"City of London, England","photo_ref":"","description":"<b>GLASS AND STEEL<\/b.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nThe Swiss Re Building or '<b><i>The Gerkin<\/i><\/b>' as it is commonly known as, stands 591 feet tall dominating the skyline of London's financial district.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nCompleted in 2003, this striking example of modern architecture is constructed of steel and glass.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nAmazingly, despite its curved appearance, there is only one actual curved piece of glass in the whole building, that is the lens shaped cap on the very top.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nGaining an uncluttered view of the building for photographic purposes can be difficult, so here I decided to isolate the upper half of the structure by utilising the spring tree canopy as a 'frame'.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nA polariser was necessary here to both saturate the green of the trees and kill off many of the relfections in its glass exterior.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\n","photographer":"","width":400,"id":5439367,"height":560,"takendate":"","payment_groups_id":"","server_id":1,"link":"photo_5439367.html","src":"LON-0025D--The-Gerkin-or-Swiss-Re-Building-City-of-London-London.jpg","home":0,"purchase_instruction":"","galleries_id":307121,"gallery":0});
																																																																						photos[5434028] = clik.newPhoto({"item_price":"","section_code":"gallery","caption":"","location":"Seattle, Washington State, USA","photo_ref":"","description":"<b>SAUCER OVER THE CITY<\/B><br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nThis is an image of the famous 'Space Needle' dominating the city skyline of Seattle on the northwest coast of the USA.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nIts futuristic form is the centrepiece for a dramatic skyline that is truly irresistable to any keen photographer.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nI'd like to say that my view of this iconic structure was unique, but this particular viewpoint of the city is well known.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nI reached the spot well before sunset, and was greeted by a row of  photographers & tripods all set neatly in a line. 																																																																						photos[5439331] = clik.newPhoto({"item_price":"","section_code":"gallery","caption":"","location":"Hong Kong, China, Asia","photo_ref":"","description":"<b>BIG AND BEAUTIFUL IFC2<\/b><br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nThe International Finance Centre on Hong Kong Island consists of two skyscrapers named IFC One & IFC Two.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nThis image shows IFC Two, the tallest skyscraper in the city which dominates the skyline above Victoria Harbour.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nIt is a true marvel of modern engineering and very worthy of a position in this section of the Gallery.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nThe Harbour is extremely busy and it is very difficult to combine a long exposure at twlight, with the required period clear of the frantic waterborne activity.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nHere I elected to leave the streaking lights of passing vessels in the final image. 																																																																						photos[5436152] = clik.newPhoto({"item_price":"","section_code":"gallery","caption":"","location":"Toronto, Canada","photo_ref":"","description":"<b>THE SPIRIT OF TORONTO<\/b><br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nThe Canadian National Tower (CN Tower) is the signature icon of Toronto's skyline, and a symbol of Canada itself.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nTowering over Downtown Toronto and Lake Ontario to a height of 1,815 feet, this magnificent structure was the tallest free-standing structure in the world for over 30 years until it was surpassed by the  '<i>Burj Khalifa<\/i>' building in Dubai in 2007.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<br>\r\nFor my image, I wanted to leave the viewer in no doubt as to where in the world this amazing building stood.
